Delete Internet cache. Internet Explorer, Tools, Options, Delete Files from Temporary Internet Files in the
General Tab.
Delete cookies. Internet Explorer, Tools, Options, General Tab. Note: Also deletes good cookies (Yahoo)
Windows Updates. Goto - Internet Explorer, Tools, Windows Update. Recommended to set for Auto update.
De-Fragment computer: Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter. Does not remove
Spy ware, but improves performance of computer.

Note: Update spy ware programs with the latest reference files
Delete unwanted programs. i.e. – Gator, Hotbar. To remove programs go to Start, Programs, Control Panel,
Add/Remove Programs. If you are not sure what the program is, look it up on the internet, and then determine
if it is “really” needed for your computer.
Install Virus Software. MacAfee v8.5 w/ Spyware is available at www.ccsu.edu/its/downloads.

MSCONFIG . Start, Run, type MSCONFIG. Choose Selective start-up, Start-up tab and de-select programs
not needed on start-up. Modifies the automatic start of programs when computer OS loads
Delete TEMP files Delete temporary files from the following locations:
C:\windows\temp
C:windows\prefetch
Check process utilitization: press CTRL-ALT-DEL to start Task Manager, Process Tab, click on CPU
column twice to highest percentage of CPU usage. Is there a rouge process using 100% processor? Check out
the process on Google and investigate
